Duchess Wood and the surrounding area offer walks over different terrain and that range in their level of difficulty*.
Walks in Duchess Wood:
- Lower Duchess Wood Walk - distance approximately 0.5 km (0.3 mile). This walk is on an all-ability path suitable for wheel-chairs and push-chairs with little to no gradient.
- Duchess Wood Loop - distance approximately 1 km (0.6 mile). This walk takes you into the upper regions of the wood following distinct paths of varying steepness. This walk is of medium difficulty because of the hills. Providing the purpose-built paths are stuck to, the ground underfoot is reasonably firm. However, there are muddy areas, depending on the weather and waterproof footwear is advised.
Walks from Duchess Wood:

This walk takes you over well maintained paths and stony track, both of which are reasonably firm underfoot, but can be wet in places. Sturdy, waterproof footwear is recommended after rain.
- Duchess Wood to Glen Fruin** or Tom na-h-Airidh**. These are difficult walks, which are very wet and boggy, even after prolonged dry spells. Waterproof boots and clothing are recommended.
*Level of difficulty is subjective.
